Unauthorized Representation and the Problem of Ghost Consulting involves illegal practice where a person who is not authorized to practice as an immigration consultant completes the application forms on behalf of a client, but then has the forms submitted as if they were personally completed by the applicant.
Fake consultants—both in Canada and abroad—pass themselves off as legitimate immigration professionals but do not have a license to provide assistance on any immigration matter. Unauthorized persons charge a fee for the work done. Ghost consulting is subject to an investigation by the Canadian government agencies.

A person may choose to use a representative to act for them with the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada, or the Canada Border Services Agency.
If a person pays a representative, they must be authorized if they act on their behalf during an immigration proceeding by speaking for the person and help choose you the best immigration stream.
The consequences of not getting it right the first time range from costly delays to a negative decision, and most errors made by those who self-represent would have been avoided by an experienced Canadian immigration consultant. Some applications are pretty straightforward and wouldn’t seem to need any special expertise.
All ICCRC licenced immigration consultants are trained and specialize in immigration law.
